What can I use to make the outer casing of a flash drive?
My dog recently chewed up a flash drive. Thankfully for me, the flash drive had a hard plastic outer casing, and the storage still works. I still have all my files and everything. What can I use to wrap the storage unit in to protect it without damaging it?
To start with, if the electronic components are intact and the drive still works, then there are hundreds of cases that you can make for it. I googled "usb flash drive mod" and found instructions and videos on how people have modified their drives. I included one that looks dog-resistant below.
If your drive is damaged, but the chips intact, you might be able to repair it with a little delicate soldering work. Many have been successful in resoldering the connections which were broken when the drive was damaged.
